  73. offering facilities similar to those found in
  74. such packages as MS Project, Artemis, or Open Plan.

  76. This shareware version supports critcal path
  77. analysis and resource aggregation. It has an

  79. chart) facility, multiple calendars per project,

  145. ===== Installation =====================================
  146.  
  147. Power Planner is a Windows Program, and requires
  148. MS Windows 3.1 (or later), Windows NT, or
  149. Windows 95 to run.
  150.  
  151. If you are installing from a downloaded copy
  152. or ZIP File, proceed as follows:
  153.  
  154.   Create a temporary directory on your hard
  155.   drive, (e.g. c:\PPDISKS)
  156.  
  157.   Copy (or Unzip) the Power Planner files
  158.   into the temporary directory
  159.  
  160.   There is a document, UNINSTAL.TXT,
  161.   included in the Power planner files in the
  162.   temporary directory. This describes
  163.   procedures for uninstalling Power Planner.
  164.   If you may wish to uninstall Power Planner
  165.   later, you should read this document before
  166.   continuning the installation.
  167.  
  168.   From Windows 95:
  169.  Select the Start button
  170.  
  171.   From Windows 3.1 or Windows NT
  172.  Select File from the Program Manager
  173.  
  174.   Select Run
  175.  
  176.   Enter the name of the directory you have created,
  177.   followed by 'setup' (e.g. C:\PPDISKS\SETUP)
  178.  
  179.   Follow the instructions. In case of difficulty,
  180.   see the notes below.
  181.  
  182.   Note that Windows does not handle dates beyond
  183.   1999 very well. If you are going to construct plans
  184.   that extend into and beyond the year 2000, you should
  185.   set your Windows short date format to a four digit
  186.   year, (i.e. yyyy instead of yy). This will avoid many
  187.   of the problems that Windows has in recognizing dates.
  188.  
  189.   One important point. Do not make assumptions about
  190.   what you can move or change. Power Planner uses quite
  191.   a sophisticated setup. Install Power Planner in its
  192.   intended directory and leave it there. Any attempt to
  193.   reconfigure, change ini files setting etc. is likely
  194.   to result in the program failing to work. If you need
  195.   to move your program or data, registered users will be
  196.   given free support to make sure that any changes are
  197.   handled correctly.
  198.  
  199.   When installation is complete and the program has
  200.   been running smoothly for some time you may delete
  201.   the temporary directory (C:\PPDISKS). You may wish
  202.   to keep a backup of the ZIP file.
  203.  
  204. Difficulty with installing/reinstalling
  205. ---------------------------------------
  206.  
  207. If you have problems with installation, proceed as
  208. follows:
  209.  
  210. 1) For the time being, disable any programs from
  211.    starting automatically when Windows starts.
  212. 2) Disable any utility programs.
  213. 3) Check whether the install program has created the
  214.    file CCPPDLL.DLL in your Windows System directory,
  215.    and if so remove it.
  216. 3) Check whether the install program has created the
  217.    file POWRPLAN.INI in your Windows directory, and
  218.    if so remove it.
  219. 4) Check whether the install program has created the
  220.    Power Planner directory (default C:\POWRPLAN),
  221.    and if so remove it with all sub-directories.
  222. 5) Shut down your system, switch off the computer,
  223.    restart the computer, and start Windows.
  224. 6) Do not start any other programs.
  225. 7) Try running the Power Planner setup program again.
  226. 8) If difficulties persist, email Sphygmic Software with
  227.    an outline of what you have done, a complete
  228.    description of the problem, a list of your operating
  229.    software and version, the type of computer including
  230.    amount of RAM installed, and any peripherals that you

  235. Uninstall Procedures
  236. --------------------
  237.  
  238. This document deals with uninstalling Power Planner
  239. in two different circumstances:
  240.  
  241.         Temporary uninstall
  242.         Permanent removal from system
  243.  
  244. Temporary Uninstall
  245. -------------------
  246.  
  247. You may wish temporarily uninstall Power Planner,
  248. in preparation to re-install the product because of
  249. a corrupt or messed up system, Before you do so,
  250. remember that if you have backed up your database
  251. when exiting Power Planner, you may restore it when
  252. loading, and this may solve your problem. If you are
  253. sure that you want to uninstall the software, proceed
  254. as follows:
  255. 1) If you are a registered user, and Power Planner is
  256.    still runnning, you should deactivate the security
  257.    system by selecting Options, then Deactivate from
  258.    the main menu when using the Network Edit View.
  259. 2) Remove the Power Planner Directory with all
  260.    sub-directories
  261. 3) Delete the file POWRPLAN.INI from the Windows
  262.    directory
  263. 4) Delete the file CCPPDLL.DLL from the Windows System
  264.    directory
  265. 5) Reboot the computer before attempting to re-install
  266.    Power Planner.
  267. 6) If you experience installation difficulties, make
  268.    sure that no other programs are running when you
  269.    install Power Planner. If you still have
  270.    difficulties try removing programs from your startup
  271.    group, and reboot to start Windows cleanly.
  272.  
  273.  
  274. Permanent Uninstall
  275. -------------------
  276.  
  277. First, remove the Power Planner directory, then remove
  278. the files POWRPLAN.INI and PPSETUP.EXE from the Windows
  279. directory. Power Planner installs or replaces the
  280. files listed below in your Windows System directory.
  281. If any of these files are already present, and the
  282. version is the same or later than that required by Power
  283. Planner, then Power Planner will not overwrite them.
  284. Note that if you simply remove these files, Power Planner
  285. will certainly be fully uninstalled, but you may remove
  286. files required by another program. You should make a note
  287. of files in the Windows System directory before you
  288. install Power Planner. When you uninstall Power Planner
  289. do not delete any files In the Windows System directory
  290. that were present before Power Planner was installed.
  291. This process may seem rather 'user unfriendly' but it is
  292. the only SAFE method for uninstalling a program.

  308. directory if you have extracted the files from a
  309. downloaded .zip file).

  312. file as as required by Power Planner, you may manually
  313. expand the file from the install disk using the following
  314. syntax
